10 Best Alabama Christmas Songs of All Time, Ranked

Fans of country band Alabama, this song list is for you. With Christmas and the silly season right around the bend, now is the time to get into the festive season, and what better way to get into the mood than by adding these great country classics to your list?

There’s something about country Christmas music that just gets you into the spirit quicker than any other music, and these ten songs are sure to help you have the best Christmas ever.

So without further ado, here is my list of the best Alabama Christmas songs of all time!

1. A Candle in the Window

Country band Alabama released their hit song “A Candle in the Window” in 1985 on their Alabama Christmas album. The song has that great Southern sound that the band is known for and is a loving tribute to the singer’s mother as he sings of her lighting a candle as if to wait for him.

Christmas is all about being with the ones you love, and “A Candle in the Window” is a song for mothers everywhere who welcome their children home with open arms, no matter the time of year. “A Candle in the Window” is the first song on my list, so give it a listen and enjoy the smooth sounds of one of country music’s best bands.

2. Joseph and Mary’s Baby

So often, we forget that Christmas is not always just about gifts and parties but about celebrating the birth of Jesus. Alabama celebrates the real reason for Christmas in its song “Joseph and Mary’s Baby.” The song was released in 1985 and is a Christian song that celebrates all things, Jesus.

3. Happy Holidays

There is no greater time of the year than the holiday season! Warm mince pies and egg nog, parties, and presents, what more could you ask for? One thing that is lacking from your holiday season is a good playlist of the best Christmas songs.

“Happy Holidays” by country music band Alabama is the perfect addition to your Christmas playlist and celebrates everything to do with the holidays.

The song was released in 1985 and featured on the band’s album Alabama Christmas, and it has that classic country sound that will make your Christmas much more festive. Add “Happy Holidays” to your playlist today, and turn up the volume as you dance away to Alabama and their favorite Christmas hit.

4. Tennessee Christmas

Number four on my list is a cover of the original song by Amy Grant. Released by Alabama in 1985 on the album Alabama Christmas, the song celebrates Christmas in the South and has a melancholy tone that will soothe your soul this festive season.

“Tennessee” Christmas was originally released by Grant in 1983 and is another favorite for country music lovers at Christmas time. Give both a listen and see which version you prefer for your Christmas playlist.

5. Christmas Memories

I often sit and think of what Christmas was like as a child. The sparkly lights, the excitement of Santa coming to deliver presents, and the joy of being together with my family. These memories are something I will treasure forever, and they always seem to creep back up around the holidays.

“Christmas Memories” by the band Alabama is sure to bring back your childhood memories and makes for easy listening.

The song was released back in 1985 on the album Alabama Christmas. Add it to your playlist today, and remember those no longer with us when you play it on Christmas Day.

6. Tonight is Christmas

Christmas Eve is the most exciting time of year when families gather around the dinner table and share a meal. Alabama’s song “Tonight is Christmas” describes the joy of Christmas Eve perfectly and was released in 1985.

There is something about country Christmas music that just warms my heart, and it will warm yours too when you listen to “Tonight is Christmas” by one of country music’s best bands. Celebrate the season with Alabama and their album Alabama Christmas.

7. Homecoming Christmas

You must listen to the lyrics of Alabama’s 1985 hit “Homecoming Christmas” to feel like a kid again. Do you remember the excitement of waking up to a pile of gifts under the tree and the joy of getting exactly what you wanted? I know I do, and songs like “Homecoming Christmas” spark these happy memories.

“Homecoming Christmas” was released on the band’s first Christmas album Alabama Christmas and is a must for your holiday playlist. Play it in the car while driving to family or in your home as you spend quality time with your loved ones.

8. Thistlehair the Christmas Bear

Did you grow up listening to “Thistlehair the Christmas Bear?” Many children did, and just listening to the first verse of this Christmas classic will take you straight back to your childhood.

A cute song about a bear that spreads Christmas cheer wherever he goes, “Thistlehair the Christmas Bear” was released in 1985 on the Alabama Christmas album.

Alabama sure knows how to combine country music and the Christmas season, and their album is still as popular today as it was when it was released in the 80s. Add some fun to your Christmas playlist when you add “Thistlehair the Christmas Bear” to your Christmas song list.

9. Christmas in Dixie

“Christmas in Dixie” celebrates Christmas in cities across America and is one of the best country Christmas songs on my list.

Released in 1985 on the album Alabama Christmas, “Christmas in Dixie” is the perfect festive song to get you excited about Christmas and spread that holiday cheer wherever you go.

No matter where you are or what your plans are Christmas is a happy time, and with songs like “Christmas in Dixie,” it is easy to get into that holiday spirit and spread the love with your family and friends.

10. Santa Claus (I Believe in You)

At some point as children, we cotton on to the fact that our parents are behind the gifts we receive on Christmas morning. For many children, the belief that Santa does not exist signals that they are growing up, and it is a sad moment for parents.

“Santa Claus (I Believe in You)” is a song that will tug at your heartstrings as you think of that loss of innocence that comes with realizing Santa is not real.

Much of the joy at Christmas as a parent is watching your children get excited about Santa, writing him letters, doing extra chores to make sure they are on the good list, and just being happy.

Alabama will bring back that excitement when you add “Santa Claus (I Believe in You)” to your playlist of the best Alabama Christmas songs. Give it a listen today, and enjoy thinking back on the good old days.
